Hong Kong’s Stunning Skyscrapers: vertical horizon

Hong Kong’s incredible skyline and high rises must have been photographed by thousands and from every angle possible. But French artist and photographer Romain Jacquet-Lagrèze has a totally new perspective. Pointing his camera towards the sky, Jacquet-Lagrèze captured these vertigo inducing vistas, highlighting the geometric patterns of the most beautiful skyscraper city, which he describes as a "race to the sky", in his photo collection Vertical Horizon. “It’s easy to get a measure of a building from afar, but you can’t really appreciate a towering city structure until you’ve craned your neck up the length of its spine, admiring the way its reflective edges seem to scrape the sky,” said the photographer. "The project is a deep immersion into the city’s thick atmospheres and a visual record of its wildly diverse built environment. This book is like a contemplative dive into the raw nature of Hong Kong and an expression of its vertical élan."

A Masters in multimedia and art from East Paris University, Mr Jacquet-Lagrèze has photographed cities such as Los Angeles, Tokyo, and now Hong Kong. Jacquet-Lagreze says it’s the geometry of the urban environment and the vivid lives it shelters which inspires him most.
