2.4 Machu Picchu sacred city of the Incas (Peru)

At the same time, Machu Picchu is considered a masterpiece of architecture and engineering. Its peculiar architectural and landscape features, and the veil of mystery that has woven to her around much of the literature published on the site, have become one of the most popular tourist destinations on the planet.
Machu Picchu is in list of the heritage site of the Unesco since 1983, as part of a whole cultural and ecological known under the name Machu Picchu historical sanctuary.
On 7 July 2007, Machu Picchu was declared as one of the new wonders of the world in a ceremony in Lisbon, Portugal, with the participation of one hundred millions of voters around the world.
