The term androgyny is defined as the mix of feminine and masculine characteristics and a single individual, or a way to describe a being that is neither female nor male.

The human being androgynous, with relation to gender identity, is a person who does not fit properly in typical classifications of male and female gender roles prescribed by society. Often, the androgynous individuals are classified as being in a limbo between female and male, or as entirely genderless.

Commonly, the androgynous male use some female props, while androgynous female use masculine props. Many assume that it comes from gay or bisexual, which is not true because androgyny or is linked to the individual appearance and behavior of an individual or even with their sexual orientation. Therefore, people can identify with androgynous female homosexual, bisexual, heterosexual, asexual or pansexuals.

According to psychology, androgyny consists of a gender dysphoria, responsible for a psychic condition in which the individual as not part neither female nor male, but rather a hybrid person, mentally speaking.

It is not known today and discussing about androgyny. Greek mythology is replete with androgynous beings, as described in "the Banquet", written by the philosopher Plato.

The possession of both have been on the rise in the 21st century. The contemporary fashion come analyzing for years the influence of androgyny in styling, as well as a pop culture of acceptance, influencing several trends defined by current pop stars of the moment.
