Endocrine, meanwhile, is an adjective that is used in biology to make allusion to what belongs or is related to hormones or the internal secretions. Regarding glands, the adjective refers to those discharged by the products directly secreted in the blood.
The endocrine system consists of all the glands of internal secretion. Its components are organs that secrete hormones, which are released into the bloodstream and which are responsible for regulating the different functions of the body.
Growth, metabolism, tissue function and mood, for example, are regulated by hormones. The endocrine system allows cellular extent, communication to stimuli, it responds by releasing hormones and promoting various metabolic functions of the body.
Among the glands that are part of the endocrine system, there are worth mentioning the thyroid, pituitary, and adrenal glands. The thyroid gland is located in the front of the neck, above the trachea. It is composed of two lobes joined by an isthmus, it produces proteins and regulates the sensitivity of the body to other hormones.
The pituitary gland, also known as pituitary gland, is located at the base of the skull and is designed to regulate homeostasis. The adrenal glands, meanwhile, lie above the kidneys and are responsible for the regulation of the response to stress through the synthesis of catecholamines and corticosteroids.
