What is the Meaning & Definition of superhero

A superhero is a character that belongs to the world of fiction. It is part of the genre of comic books and science fiction and his adventures have been taken to the cinema and television. The superhero is a character who lives a series of adventures, which are framed in different historical contexts, but preferred the action takes place in today's world.

A quality that sets apart it

Its main feature is to have some higher power, i.e. a capacity above normal in some sense (some flying, others have immense strength or a foreign power). Extraordinary faculty that have originated, usually a special (a genetic mutation is the most common phenomenon and appears in Spiderman or Wolverine, but the causes that explain their superhuman ability are very different).
While the superheroes appeared in comic books in United States in the 1930's (for example, Superman or Batman) there are historical precedents: the heroes of Mythology, the great warriors, the Olympians of ancient Greece, the Nordic sagas and some literary figures of the nineteenth century and twentieth (Sandokan, the Fox, Ivanhoe and many others).
The superhero is a character that particularly attracts the children because it is someone fearless, brave, that overcomes all kinds of dangers and carries an attractive clothing.

An archetype of the superhero

Every superhero has his own personal history, a special power and a dangerous enemy. However, there are features in common in the majority of cases, so it is possible to make a general portrait of these characters in fiction.
Most are young and strong men (Wonder Woman is one of the few women). In addition to its exceptional conditions, it also has a deep sense of duty and responsibility. In fact, almost all of them fight evil or injustice in the world. A curious aspect to the superhero is submitting any weakness, a weak point (they have doubts, they walk, feel alone or misunderstood). Its frailties make it someone closer. In other words, is someone who is above others and at the same time it is as human as anyone else.
The question of identity is quite curious. In General, the superhero leads a double life (that of any normal individual and its dimension as a fighter against injustice).

The message of the stories

It is evident that adventure, science fiction and Superhero personality are the main axes of their stories. Despite this, behind the narration is an indisputable ethical message: evil exists and must be fought. In the confrontation between the good and the evil, the good is victorious because the superhero has intervened.
The stories of these heroes remember we have two paths in life: that of the good and the evil. The first is a tough and difficult road, but worth it. The path of evil can be attractive in some sense, but it is a wrong choice and deserves a punishment (the superhero is the righteous one who destroys the evil in the world).
