Biography of Attilio Bertolucci

The art of poetry

18 November 1911 14 June 2000 Attilio Bertolucci is born on November 18, 1911 in San Prospero, near Parma. He attended the national boarding school Maria Luigia of Parma. He began to write poetry since he was very young, when he was no more than seven years. In ' 28 he collaborated in the Gazzetta di Parma, including Cesare Zavattini, man ever, had meanwhile become editor-in-Chief. The following year Bertolucci published his first collection of poetry, Sirius. In ' 31 he enrolled at the Faculty of Law in Parma. In ' 33 was a lifelong companion, Ninetta Giovanardi, and in ' 32 the year after he published the intense and beautiful Fireworks in November, which earned the praise of Montale and Sereni (correspondence with Sereni is caught in a long friendship, ' 94). Abandoned legal studies, he attended the lectures of art criticism held by Roberto Longhi at the University of Bologna. In ' 38, the marriage with Ninetta. A year later he founded with Ugo Guanda "La Fenice", first series of foreign poetry in Italy. On March 17 of 41 was born the son Bernard, who will become the great Director that we know. On 9 September of ' 43, he moved with Ninetta and the little Bernardo Bertolucci, in the former home of a Chorus. In ' 47 was born the second son, Joseph, also a future filmmaker. He moved to Rome in ' 51, right at the home of Longhi. The ' 51 is overjoyed to Bertolucci: exits the Indian hut from Sansoni and won the Premio Viareggio. One of the first readers of the book there is Pier Paolo Pasolini, who becomes one of his closest friends. In ' 58 came from Garzanti, in its care, an anthology of foreign Poetry of the twentieth century, full of his translations. In ' 71 was published what remains probably the best of the books of the poet Parmesan, winter journey. In ' 75, after death of Pasolini, Bertolucci was asked to direct-with Sicilian and Moravia-the prestigious new topics. For many years the poet was engaged in writing and in finishing of the bedroom, which will be released in two books, in 84 and 88, winning the Viareggio. In the ' 90 are the poems, all his collections of poems already published Librex-Guggenheim Prize, they get. In ' 93, a new collection of poems, Toward the headwaters of the Circle, and in ' 97 publishes the lizard of early poems and compositions containing Casarola, latest. In the same year he released the Meridiano Mondadori of his works, edited by Paolo Lagazzi and Gabriella Palli barons. The great poet went off on June 14, 2000.
