In 2011 he began collaborating with Beppe Grillo's blog, writing surveys and reports focused on actions in Guatemala of Enel (the theme also opens a parliamentary inquiry), and the following year for the Casaleggio Associati publishes a book about South American shooters, entitled "Hitmen at five dollars" and published as an e-book for Adagio (which belongs to the company by Gianroberto Casaleggio) : to achieve it has traveled to Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Panama and in having got to see up close and examine the causes of the phenomenon of sicariato. Inside, meanwhile, the Movement 5 Stars, for which he is spokesman for his region in December of 2012 Alessandro Di Battista applies to so-called parlamentarie, winning fourth place Lazio 1 constituency for the House of representatives: so, during the elections in the following year he was elected Deputy. In may 2014 ends in the eye of the storm for some statements made during the program by La7 moving target, led by Enrico Mentana, having associated with the word "mafia" Democratic Party parliamentarians Giuseppe Civati and Gianni Cuperlo: the two protagonists of the statements, while stizzendosi for those terms, decide not to press charges, after receiving an apology in private by the same Di Battista. The latter, a few months later, publishes on the blog of Beppe Grillo a post dedicated to Isis in which proposed to raise to interlocutors the terrorists. In this case, the story is followed by controversy rather heavy, which will fade away after the Deputy 5 Star movement makes clear that his words were referring to Hamas and not to Isis. In February 2015 he is mentioned in an article published in one of the most prestigious newspapers in the United States, the New York Times, which places it among those who said or wrote the biggest lies in the previous year: the reference is to a line spoken at an event at the Circus Maximus, when he described the Nigeria as a country in the hands of Boko Haram for 60% and in the hands of ebola for remaining 40% (a statement which is contradicted by the same New York Times that use the data released by the World Health Organization). Starting from 4 November 2015 Alessandro Di Battista is part of the Standing Committee on the reform of institutional structures of Italy's foreign policy. Meanwhile, following the resignation of Ignazio Marino from his position as Mayor of Rome, his name is often posted by news outlets between those of 5 Star Movement for candidates eligible candidates the Chair of Mayor of the capital. During this period, which coincides with that in which Gates expresses its willingness to make a "side step", Alessandro Di Battista is among the prominent politicians of the M5S, together with Luigi Di Maio and Roberto Fico.
