Lamberto Dini was born in Florence the day March 1, 1931. Occupation grocer's father allows him to fulfill high school, which concludes brilliantly in Florence. The new President Ciampi would be oriented to appoint the Deputy General Manager of the Bank of Italy Pierluigi Ciocca, but following a compromise with the President of the Republic Oscar Luigi Scalfaro outweighs the choice of Antonio Fazio, second Deputy Director. In May 1994 Dini resigned as Director of the Bank of Italy to serve as Treasury Minister in the Berlusconi Government. Berlusconi resigned in early 1995 and Dini is mandated by President Scalfaro to form a new Government: Dini form an Executive composed exclusively of Ministers and undersecretaries technical and non-parliamentarians. Dini seeks consensus between the parties of the centre left and the unions and succeeds in the difficult task of enacting a reform of pensions, which transforms the Italian pension system by contributing to pay.
However the final aims are those of ferrying the country until early elections to be held later in April 1996. For new elections Dini joined the centre-left coalition l'Ulivo led by Romano Prodi, appearing with a personal list ("Dave"). Over the four Governments (Prodi, D'alema and Amato II I and II) of the olive tree which will follow each other during the XIII legislature Dini has served as Minister of Foreign Affairs. Will resign on June 6, 2001 in the aftermath of new elections won by Berlusconi. In this last election Lamberto Dini was elected to the Senate. From February 2002 to July 2003 is delegated to the Convention preparing the draft EU Constitution. Until the end of the term will be vice President of the Senate. In the general elections of 2006 was reelected Senator (Group of "Daisy").
During the XV legislature holds the position of President of the III Commission Foreign Affairs, emigration of the Senate. In June 2006 was elected President of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee. Initially adheres to the Constitution of the "Democratic Party" (centre left) but then announced his departure from the project to constitute the "Liberal Democrats" founded with Natale D'Amico, Sultan Mahmud, Giuseppe Scalera and Italo Tanoni. Donatella Pasquali Zingone-billionaire's widow married bergamasco Renzo Zingone from whom he inherited extensive property in Costa Rica-this is sentenced the Criminal Section of the Court of Rome from December 3, 2007 X in 2 years and 4 months in prison for bankruptcy fraud in connection with a false accounting of the company "SIDEMA srl" and a 40 billion lire from crac in 2002. It will serve the penalty imposed on it thanks to benefit introduced of the pardon of 2006. At the end of January 2008 her vote in the Senate is crucial to the fall of the Prodi government.
