Roberto Calasso was born in Florence on May 30, 1941. After grammar school he obtained a degree in English literature with professor Mario Praz (known critic of art and literature), with the thesis entitled "the hieroglyphs of Sir Thomas Browne" presented by Bobi Bazler, his friend and teacher, Calasso began working for the publishing house Adelphi at the age of twenty she became Editorial Director Adelphi in 1971. Since 1990 he was appointed General Manager. Since 1999 the prestigious publishing house invests the President Later Roberto Calasso was named "visitor professor of comparative European literature Professor Weidenfeld at Oxford University alongside his editorial activity Calasso is pursuing a career as a novelist and essayist. His books have been translated into many languages. With his works Calasso studies and investigates the myth and the past, to tell the mind of mankind. In 2005 he wrote "the madness that comes by the nymphs", a collection of essays on the influence of the nymphs in the literature, which is discussed from authors ranging from Plato to Nabokov.
