Definition of specification
Specify means to mention something specific, clear information that has been provided previously. And a specification is a detailed explanation. In this way, the concept that we analyze implies that something general only can be understood with precision if describes all the elements that comprise it. When it comes to specification always is associated with something of a general nature, it is usual to refer to expenditure, objectives, requirements or product specification.
The ideas should be recorded
Any idea or proposal usually have the following model: a main thesis, a series of arguments and a set of complementary data or specifications. The three parties are closely related. We illustrate this with an example schema: the design of a car. It is part of a basic initial scheme, i.e., a new idea of automobile that is embodied in a sketch. The next step is to define and realize the fundamental elements of the vehicle. Finally, it is necessary to establish a set of technical specifications to complete the process (this is reflected in a certificate of technical specifications which detail all aspects of the vehicle, from the brand, dimensions, power, gearbox, engine displacement and a long etcetera). The specifications of any product are your letter of introduction and translate into a technical document which accurately details the various aspects of the product, whether a machine, a medicine or any service.
The purpose of the specifications
The information is provided in a technical document performs several functions:-ensure that the product has been prepared in accordance with approved standard and with the appropriate certifications (in this sense, the ISO standards serve as general reference frame). -Let the consumer know in detail what has acquired (raw materials, product description, controls performed, legal requirements). We must remember that in the majority of cases, specifications are made in various languages, something absolutely necessary in a context of globalized economy. -Avoid a possible fraud in manufacturing (copying and counterfeiting is a reality and the technical documents are a mechanism so that consumers can differentiate between an authentic product of one that isn't). -Communicate how something works. In this sense, we must remember that there are two types of technical specifications (a product-related data and the functionality of the product).
