What is the Meaning & Definition of glyphosate

Glyphosate is a herbicide that inhibits a vegetable enzyme essential for the metabolism of plants. In this way, this herbicide inhibits the growth of the weed, i.e., weeds. Glyphosate was first used in the 1970's and their use in agriculture has become widespread since the 90s. In addition to its function as a herbicide glyphosate allows a superior to conventional agricultural economic profitability. It is used in all types of crops, preferably soybean or corn.

Defenders of glyphosate

Supporters of this chemical used several arguments. On the one hand, remember that official health authorities have classified as slightly toxic glyphosate (by way of example, it is said that glyphosate has the same level of toxicity than many other products for normal consumption). They belie be related malformations, allergies, tumors and, overall, with any problem of health for humans or animals. To demonstrate that it is a harmless product recalls that in Europe it is used widely in public gardens and the private sphere.
On the other hand, the GM companies argue that there is no relationship between agrochemical products (such as glyphosate) and genetically modified products.

Against the glyphosate

The criticisms are very diverse and based on a whole series of arguments. There are alternative scientific studies showing a relationship between glyphosate and a range of health problems (related to autism, Parkinson's, obesity, allergies, cancer, etc). He is considered that there is a close relationship between glyphosate and genetically modified products. On the other hand, some groups denounced that there is currently an experiment around the world to impose the use of this herbicide. Although glyphosate should be labeled, it-related products are not, which raises suspicions and fears.

Conclusion

The two opposing views underscore the existence of two concepts: 1) of those who accept the official as necessarily true information and 2) of those who understand that some perverse economic interests are hidden behind the glyphosate, and that it is endangering the health of millions of people around the world.
The two opposing views remind us that there are other similar dilemma: those who understand the climate change as a natural phenomenon front who attribute it to human actions. When two visions are so opposite and irreconcilable citizen is at a crossroads of difficult solution.
