What is the Meaning & Definition of Gnosis

Gnosis means in our language and also in the Greek language knowledge. But it is not a regular or basic knowledge of anything, i.e. scientific or rational, but traditionally gnosis involves a type of spiritual and intuitive knowledge of issues as for example the divinity, Dios, among others, and that promptly was what they most wanted to reach the Gnostics, as it was the followers of Gnosticism. Gnosticism was a doctrine that mixed religious and philosophical issues and who knew how to impose force there for the first years of life of the Catholic Church and as such pursued the goal of a knowledge of the divine through intuition basically and not of the same faith or reason.
This is precisely the main difference with the monotheistic religions which dominated in those years, since as we know, religions like Christianity and Judaism, are especially held by faith as well as the faithful and that precisely moves to accept without discussion and with firmness the proposed dogma.
This current reached a notable influence in the city of Alexandria in the 2nd century AD and remained current until the next century and was respected, however, then, from own Christianity declared it as a heresy and was treated as such.
Its origin is closely linked to culture and Greek tradition. The Greeks knew to be pioneers in that deepen the knowledge of the hidden truths of man and the world.
Gnosticism to the fact that Christ is sacrificed by men not Nick the salvation of these they are men per se, coming to gnosis, divine on their own who will finally achieve his salvation and be side of God. The illumination of the spirit that leads to salvation will be achieved only through gnosis.
Without a doubt it is a power which, in addition to the Christian influence, received contributions of platonic philosophy and also Eastern philosophies.
