NASA describes it as a "tunnel of time in the distant past" because shows galaxies so remote that its light is perceived by us million years after born.

The deeper and more extensive universe, color image showing a landscape of infinite and of galaxies appearance, has been photographed by the American Space Agency (NASA) Hubble telescope.
The work has been called eXtreme Deep Field (XDF, by its acronym in English), and is actually the accumulation of 10 years of data that allow you to display more than 5,500 galaxies concentrated in a tiny section of the firmament that was photographed repeatedly by the Hubble space telescope for a decade.
Galaxies that were identified with this multiexposicion, the oldest has 13,200 million years, according to the scientists, so we can see the light that came out very soon - in astronomical terms - there has been the Big Bang, taking into account that it has been estimated that the universe is about 13.7 billion years of existence.
According to Garth Illingwoth, scientist of the University of California at Santa Cruz related to this project, "the XDF is the deepest image of the universe obtained so far and reveals more perceptible and distant galaxies that have been".
Moreover, the space agency spokesmen have described photography as "a tunnel of time in the distant past", since the light that comes from the remote galaxies is seen on Earth millions of years after it originated.
The NASA Hubble telescope was put in orbit in 1990 with the cooperation of the European Space Agency. Before being put into service, the astronomers just were able to see objects that were 7 billion years light.
