Standard definition

A standard is a set of standardized rules containing a catalogue of requirements. These requirements relate both to products and processes. Standardization collects the desires, the proposals of all relevant institutions such as manufacturers, consumer associations, lawyers, research centres, the entities of certification and inspection.
Without these rules the current movement of goods, would be unthinkable since each one of the products should be reviewed according to specific criteria. They exist at different levels and with different scope.

Concept of standard

Normalization or standardization is the drafting and adoption of standards that are established to ensure coupling of elements constructed independently, as well as ensure the replacement if necessary, guarantee the quality of manufactured items, the safety of operation and working with social responsibility.
Normalization is the process of designing, implementing and improving the rules that apply to different activities scientific, industrial or economic in order to sort them and improve them. Standardization primarily pursues three objectives:
