Meaning of segmentation

Market segmentation is the process of dividing, as his word says of segmenting a market into smaller uniform groups that have similar needs and characteristics. The following types of segments we can see acontinuación: these segments are homogenous groups (e.g., persons in a segment are similar in their attitudes about certain variables). Due to this similarity within each group, it is likely to respond similarly to certain marketing strategies. That is, they will probably have the same reactions about the marketing mix for a given product, sold at a certain price, distributed in a way determined and promoted in a given way.
The segmentation in biology refers to the division of some plant and animal bodies in a series of somewhat repetitive segments. Segmentation allows a high degree of specialization of bodily regions, observable in the annelids, but mainly in vertebrates.
In theoretical biology, segmentation is a manifestation of the more general concept of modularity. Its formation process is also a manifestation of the more general process of morphogenesis.
Segmentation is called or early cleavage to the Embryological process which consists in a series of cell divisions (mitosis) of the fertilized egg (Zygote) that occur before the Gastrulation, and that are associated with the morphology of the egg and in particular with the amount of vitellin containing. Resulting from the division of the Zygote cells called blastomeres and form a compact mass called morula; from this the blastula is formed and subsequently the gastrula. The cleavage results from two processes: mitosis (division of the nucleus whose mechanical agent is the mitotic spindle) and cytokinesis (cell division whose mechanical agent is the contractile ring).
Segmentation (in English pipelining literally pipeline and pipe) is a method by which is achieved to increase the performance of some electronic systems digital. It is applied, especially in microprocessors. The name comes from that to boost the gas in a pipeline to the maximum speed is necessary to split the pipeline into sections and place a bomb which will give a new impulse to the gas. The analogy with programming exists in that the calculations must be registered or synchronized with the clock every so often so that the critical path (tranche with more load or computational delay between two records of clock) be reduced.
The critical path is actually reached by the set maximum working frequency. To greater critical path (time or delay between records) lower is the maximum work and less critical path frequency higher working frequency. One is the inverse of the other. Distribute or equitably segment calculation makes that frequency optimal at the expense of more area for storage or intervening data and logging a delay or latency (in cycles of clock/time) in the output of the equivalent to the number of segmentation result or made records. The primary advantage of this system is that, as the pipe is shown in the image, once it is full, i.e. after a latency of four in the image, the results of each command come one after another each flank of clock and no extra by being chained inside the same pipe latency. All this having maximized the maximum operating frequency.

Definition of segmentation

Well overall, it means segmentation division of something, an object, a thing or matter, in segments.
Meanwhile, according to the object and the context we can find various types of segmentation, some of the most recurrent and known are the biological, the market and the segmentation of memory of one operating system, among others.
Biological segmentation, for example, involves the repeated cell division egg of animals and plants, from which shall constitute the blastula, i.e. from this procedure of segmenting some plant and animal bodies are divided into a series of segments semirepetitivos.
On the other hand, instances of any type of market research being performed, will use what is known as market segmentation, which is the process of dividing a market into uniform groups smaller that have similar needs and characteristics.
This derives from the natural question that the total market is composed of subgroups called segments, being the fundamental characteristic of these homogeneity presented, i.e. persons that integrate a same segment, although they may have some differences in attitudes, on certain variables will be very similar.
Then, this issue, which is crucial for the marketing and its strategies will allow to predict behaviors.
Some of the benefits of market segmentation are the following: identification of more specific requirements for the sub markets, better focus on a marketing strategy, enterprise resource optimization, more effective advertising, identifying an own niche without competition, increase of possibilities for growth in segments that have no competitors.
And finally, in a computer context, we find the segmentation of an operating system memory, which allows the division into segments, each with a variable length defined intrinsically by the size that has each program segment.

Concept of segmentation

It is known as segmentation to the Act and a consequence of segment (say, to divide or portions form segmentoso). The concept, according to practice, has multiple uses according to each context.
It is possible to talk about segmentation market, for example, to appoint the division into smaller sets whose members share certain characteristics and requirements. These sub-groups, experts say, are determined after analysing the market.
Segmentation requires the creation of homogeneous groups, at least with respect to certain variables. Since the members of each segment maintained similar behaviors or behaviors, it is possible to anticipate a similar response to marketing strategies.
Among the requirements for segmenting the market correctly appear homogeneity within the segment, the heterogeneity between segments and the ability to identify, measure and manage each segment.
Many times, a company that collaborates with the segmentation of the market at a point of history changes seem more years later to try to encompass a greater percentage of consumers. Manufacturers of expensive cars, for example, fought for years to present their products as luxury items, available only for the portion of the population with high purchasing power. However, given various factors such as the growing list of benefits of global crisis and current economic cars, have been forced to rethink its proposal and their marketing strategies.
This can be seen in the numerous advertisements, especially television, trying to erase the existing concepts with respect to its products and its quality of elitist. Mercedes Benz is the most outstanding example; through its campaign "There is a new Mercedes", ensures the potential consumers that there is a model tailored for anyone, regardless of their economic situation, age, amount of members of their family group, tastes, etc.
The problem go against the market segmentation is that the image of the company may lose its sharpness. For example, when Nintendo began to advertise their products with a look wider, trying to include people of all ages and genders, industry lost respect in the company, assuming that if a console both offered game for a child of 6 years as for a Lady of 83 or a teenager, then these titles devoid of seriousness and of an acceptable quality level.
While consumers who fail to identify themselves with any segment of the market suffer from this phenomenon, others oppose the universalization, fearing that those distinctive features of their favorite products be diluted. The solution, as discussed in previous paragraphs, is complex and sensitive, while companies are experimenting with different messages, they will lose the sums of money that may be impossible to recover.
For the field of biology, on the other hand, segmentation related divisions segmented organisms belonging to the animal Kingdom as well as the vegetable. Thus, there is a high level of specialization in the areas of the body.
In computing, the segmentation is a method that seeks to increase the performance of a digital system. The English notion is known as pipelining ("pipeline"), since the logic mimics the operation of a pipeline (which is divided into various segments with pumps that drive the gas).
In this case, the programming consists of developing calculations that must be synchronized with the clock every certain amount of time so that the critical path is reduced.
The Embryological process that lies in cell division (mitosis) of the fertilized egg is carried out before the Gastrulation is also known as segmentation.
