What is: "user" ‒Definiciones and Conceptos‒
1. Concept of user in the Wikipedia EncyclopediaAccording to the Real Academia Española (RAE), user is «one who uses something» or «that ordinarily use something». This is opposed to the concepts of semantic web, web 2.0 and 3.0, work collaborative, since the current reality prima citizens as issuers and not only receivers that «use» means.
It is better, therefore, talk about actors, subjects, citizens, etc. to refer to people who interact on digital networks.
In computer science, this term is used with special relevance.
The user according to their experienceAlthough people who have direct contact with computers can be collectively defined as users, individually they have numerous differences (age, sex, previous knowledge, motivation, etc). However, there are situations in which it is necessary to classify them into a single category; for example, for evaluation purposes. One of the most used is that classifies the users according to their level of knowledge (Advanced, beginner, intermediate). Now Sutcliffe (1988) defines it in the following way:
• Inexperienced: they are people who have no experience in the use of machines and technology (something very rare to find today);
• Beginners: people who have had some contact with machinery and technology;
• Enabled: they are competent users, but that lack them something (at the level of knowledge or understanding) that allow them to be classified as experts. You could say that the majority of users fall into this category.
• Experts: this is individuals that have such vast knowledge on machinery and technology, which would be able to dismantle and reassemble it if necessary. They are a relatively small group of people.
Hackos (1994) suggested that there should be a category of "users in transfer" to include the qualified who are learning a new application (becoming temporarily «novices»). It has also recommended that take account of the type of use: «users by repetition» would be those who can use the system in a competent way, since they follow instructions and routines. I.e.: although they could be classified as enabled users, their lack of understanding excluded from this group.
In 1998, Hackos and Redish have issued their own classification, based on that of Dreyfus and Dreyfus (1986): beginners, beginners and advanced users, competent users and expert users. This scale of continuous progression allows you to sort all users in any of its stages, but does not take into account that someone may be suitable in some application and rookie in another. In 1982, Carey had suggested a two-dimensional model that takes into account the ability for applications in general and in specific programmes. The classification proposed by it was: pick (a person with a minimum knowledge, be application, non-system), beginners (little knowledge of the application, but substantial knowledge of the system), casual (which have a considerable knowledge of the application, but limited knowledge of the system) and experts (who have a considerable knowledge of two aspects).
In 1997, Smith added a third dimension to the model, the general knowledge of information (computer literacy) technology, which allowed him to create the skill level of the user «cube». By classifying high or low knowledge of the application, system and computer literacy, Smith has generated eight different types of users: beginners, "parrots" (which only repeat what is taught), literate, trained, occasional, specific, transfer and experts.
A characteristic common to all classifications of users is that sooner or later, all of them turn out to be problematic. Therefore, as a general rule, the classification into three levels Basic (Advanced, beginner, intermediate), should be more than sufficient to establish the skill level of the users.
2. Definition of userA user is the individual who uses or works with any object or device or using any service in particular.
For computing is a user who uses a device or computer and performs multiple operations for various purposes. It is often a user who purchases a computer or electronic device and who used it to communicate with other users, generate content and documents, use software of different type and many other possible actions.
A user is model or average who have in mind the development of hardware and computer software companies whenever they designed a new device or application. This user is not necessarily one particularly instructed or trained in the use of new technologies, or in programming or development, by which the interface of the device in question should be simple and easy to learn. However, each type of development has its own user model and for some companies, the parameter of each user is different.
There are different types of user. For example, the end user is that customer or consumer of computer software and hardware that uses it social, professional or personal purposes. The registered user is a term much used in the development of applications and web sites that require some kind of prior registration or membership to be used. Today many websites like social networks require a simple and free registration allowing the user to access benefits, features and a personalized account. Instead, the anonymous user is one who browse web sites or online services without authentication, and therefore does not provide personal data to the developer. An anonymous user has less privileges often, but may also be considered that access to a greater protection of your personal information. Another type of user is the tester, which deals check out the features of a program or web site in order to confirm that they operate correctly.
3. Definition of userThe dictionary of the Real Academia Española (RAE) defines the concept of user simplicity and precision: a user is who ordinarily uses something. The term, which comes from the latin usuarĭus, mentions that uses some kind of object or person who is a recipient of a service, either private or public.
For example: "telecommunications users have the right to claim that operators comply with what they promise in their promotions", "a Facebook user himself faced criticism that his friends left in your virtual wall", "good afternoon, I would like to make a claim by the interruption of the service, my user number is 53542".
The notion of user is very popular in the field of computer science. In this sense, a user can both be a person like a computer or software, since the concept is linked to access to certain resources or devices.
Referred to as the end user to the person you are for a product when it has already passed the various stages of development. It is, therefore, of the subject that have direct interaction with the product.
The registered user is one who has an ID (user name) and a password or access code to make use of a service on the Internet. The registration process can be free or pay. After registering, the user gets an own account that stores your personal information (your name, address (email, etc.) and that gives you access to information not available to those who are not registered on the system in question.
4. Definition of userA user is a person who used something for a function in specific, it is necessary that the user have the awareness that what you are doing has a purpose, logical and concise, however, the term is generic and is limited to first stay to describe the action of a person using something. It using something is because you need to, if they face an ATM that you need this dispense you money you become a user of the Bank and electronic services provided by this.
The concept of user takes more shape and relevance in society since the early days of computing, the rise of technology and security systems for programs on the internet and data networks introduced a new concept and application to the user. A user is that terminal access that you have to enter in a software, either on the network or locally, a user's computer is composed of a key name and a password that is personal, at the time of entering the system, only vera user information contained in your profile. When another user enters the system, vera other data but never that the previous user was looking at.
Security Bank and programs on the network was forced to evolve with the arrival of malicious agents seeking to damage or steal the values contained there. The user has become in recent years a fundamental part for the execution of security plans and registration in databases. For the elaboration of a user on a network it is necessary to fill in a form which sets a user name, a password, personal data to validate that it is not a "Malware" program and see that the user is human, this also contributes to the person who creates the user feel protected and to have confidence that the system you're using is safe.
5 User conceptIt is called user, word derived from the Latin word "usuarius" agent that uses or avails of a good or service.
Those who acquire vehicles, appliances, or electronic items in general, these are accompanied by instructions on its correct use, contained in a small "user's manual".
Those who enjoy services, public or private, are also users, for example: service user from running water, fixed or mobile, users users of the public transport of passengers, etc.
It is a concept used in computer science to refer to who uses the tools or devices that provides the system, through your computer to communicate with other people, write, post ideas, swap them in forums, etc., and can be anonymous or registered. In the e-mails, among other services, is required to access them, place the password and user name that we have chosen, in order to safeguard information.
In legal sense, use, is a real right over others which emerged in Roman law, who had by agreement of parties or testamentary disposition the quality of user, in the beginning, allowing to use the thing which not is owned, without having the right to receive its fruits. This concept evolved into the current forms where the user can perceive the fruits of the alien thing, only insofar as they are necessary. In property law, who is the owner of the domain, you can also use, or can this be transferred to another, for example if the property is affected to a usufruct or a rental.
