What is the meaning of Pipette? Concept, Definition of Pipette

Definition, Concept, Meaning, What is Pipette

Concepto de Pipeta

1. Pipette concept

The pipette is a volumetric instrument laboratory for measuring the rate of fluid fairly accurately. They tend to be glass. Consists of a transparent tube that ends in one of their cone-shaped, and has a graduation (a series of engraved marks) with indicating different volumes.
Some are graduates or simple capacity, i.e. is you make once in the zero milliliters, and then left empty until the volume that is needed; in others, the so-called double diffuser or double capacity, you make the mark or higher capacity and let it drain the liquid with caution to fasten furring strip at the lower capacity. Even though they have the disadvantage of a fixed volume of liquid measure, double capacity pipettes greatly outnumber the graduates in that its accuracy is much higher, since the measured volume is not changed if you break them, or if the tapered tip becomes deformed.
For suctions of liquid more accurately, is used, mostly in double capacity pipettes, the device known as propipeta.

According to their volume, the pipettes have a limit of error.

A pipette by capacity error

Capacity (up to) Error limit
2 0.006
5 0.01
10 0.02
30 0.03
50 0.05
100 0.08
200 0.10

Methodology of use

• Enters the container from which you want to extract a certain volume of sample pipette (with the tapered end down).
• The propipeta or an adept in the free end is placed and is made to ascend the liquid above the upper capacity.
• Quickly graduating with the propipeta or removed the adept by placing the index finger clogging the tip, to prevent it dropping.
• It reduces mild and slowly the pressure exerted by the finger, until liquid begins to descend. Turns to press when the meniscus of the liquid came to 0. If the fluid descended too, it begins again.
• Pipette is moved to the destination container.
• Is again reduced the pressure of your finger until you reach the amount of necessary milliliters.
• In the case of the pipettes graduated, to empty it completely take out your finger completely and is dropped; but the fall of the last drops must not be forced, but that these must be at the tapered end of the pipette.
• In the graduated pipette can measure different volumes of liquid, since it carries a graduated scale.
• Pipette aforada ponose a unique diffuser upper which can only measure a given volume.

2 Meaning of pipette

A pipette is a container that is used in laboratories to carry a liquid from one place to another. It is a tube, usually featuring a widening in the middle and that has some kind of Cap on top so that the liquid in question does not spill.
The pipettes have rules or scales that help to know, accurately, how much liquid contain within them. Its surface is transparent, so that you can see fluid and mentioned scale.
These instruments help to move a liquid from one container to another, something very important when carrying out experiments. You must enter the pipette tip into the bowl that you want to obtain the fluid and drive mechanism that makes the pipette to suck the contents. To collect the desired amount, it is necessary to block the suction mechanism and transfer pipette, with liquid inside, to its destination, to proceed with the download.
Pipettes, on the other hand, are a very popular instrument for the implementation of certain veterinary products in dogs and cats. In this sense, the pipettes are used so that an insecticide will act on the skin of pets, protecting it from the action of parasites such as ticks and fleas.
Thanks to its fast action and ease of application, pipettes have become one of the most popular methods to combat these pests and to care for the health of domestic animals.

3. Definition and what pipette

Pipettes allow the transfer of one usually not greater volume to 20 ml from one container to another accurately. This allows aliquots of fluid fairly accurately. They tend to be glass. Consists of a transparent tube that ends in one of their cone-shaped, and has a graduation (a series of engraved marks) indicating different volumes.

Classification of pipettes

Graduated pipettes: are calibrated in units suitable to allow the transfer of any volume from 0.1 to 25 ml. make possible the delivery of fractional volumes

Volumetric or graduated pipettes: the volumetric pipette is made to deliver a well given volume, which is given by one or two marks in the pipette. If the brand is a single, fluid should be left without blowing, to lower capillary waiting only for 15 seconds then falling the last drop.

Management of the pipette

  • The liquid is sucked through a slight vacuum using bulb suction or propipeta, never mouth.
  • Make sure there are no bubbles or foam in the liquid.
  • Clean the pipette tip before moving liquid
  • Fill the pipette over the graduation mark and move the desired volume. The edge of the meniscus must be on the graduation mark.
