This term comes from the Greek language: Biblion, which refers to all manner of bibliographic artifact or any material that makes the Act of reading; Therapein, which alludes to therapies, healing and recovery processes. Therefore, the Bibliotherapy can be defined as an indication of books with curative purposes.

This exercise brings art itself the potential to be used as a significant tool in the reconquest of the psyche healthy people with affective disorders. Through it the patient undergoes a therapeutic procedure by reading, which also includes complementary opinions and discourse analysis.

Its practice fit into personal and pedagogical enhancement activities, following the same course used in therapeutic clinics. The Act of reading and other actions in the sphere of entertainment are then applied as secondary activities that help in the restoration of victims of psychic and organic disorders. Patients of all ages can be covered by this therapy.

The stories have the power to generate changes in people, because the help to show other horizons and discern mentalities, emotions and alternative performances. So they can find other ways most beneficial to fight obstacles that arise on the journey.

The Bibliotherapy presents ideal conditions to be exercised in educational institutions, hospitals and in the social sphere. Her therapeutic supervision demand to a librarian in therapies or psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, or of these experts in partnership with the librarian.

In Brazil was established the Sociedade Brasileira de Bibliotherapy Clinic, aiming to generate experts in this field who are able to exercise this role. In this community are also implemented studies and activities that revolve around this subject, encompassing concepts relevant to spheres of medicine and education.

The Bibliotherapy goes through several steps. First the player or receiver is captivated by history or by its protagonist, generating with either a deep affinity. The next step is to identify and experience of supporting their way peculiar emotions.

The difficulties resolved successfully will lead the reader to produce an emotional overload linked to their own difficulties, and so he will reach the catharsis. By this way will achieve insight, a phenomenon that allows you to associate the events that unfold in the plot to its very existence. This analogy leads the receiver to a final stage, the universality, in which it is possible to understand other similar issues.

In this process it is fundamental the careful choice of the tools that will be used, the exposure and the delimitation of how long will it take for therapy, as well as the supervision through the affective analysis of instruments materials and the sharing of experiences.
