Art, from the latin ars, is a term used to describe the creations of man to express his sensitive vision of the real world or imagination through the use of Visual, sound and language resources.
Contemporary, adjective from contemporanĕus, said of what belongs or that relates to the times in which we live. Those who have lived in the second half of the 18th century, for example, were contemporary compared to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, but not compared to those who were born in the 20th century.
Therefore means contemporary art produced in our time. Of course, this definition depends on who says. Art produced in the 14th century was the contemporary art of people who have lived in the 1300s.
Contemporary, however, can be understood in different ways. For some specialists, contemporary art appeared in the immediate history (in decades). Other experts, contemporary art is developed from the second war world (1945).
A longer version of the concept extends to contemporary art throughout the 20th century, and Moreover, some believe that contemporary art is that which appeared during the modern era (which began at the end of the 18th century).
Considering that contemporary art has occurred during the last century, it is appropriate to mention movements and styles such as Expressionism, Cubism, Dadaism, surrealism, pop art and conceptual art, with references such as Henri Matisse, Pablo Picasso, Piet Mondrian, Marcel Duchamp, Salvador Dalí and Joan Miró.
