Cable is a term which admits multiple senses and uses. It can be a cord including several drivers isolated from each other and which is protected by a species of coating.
Power cable (also called cord) is the one whose goal is to conduct electricity. It is usually made of copper (as a result of its conductivity level) or aluminum (it is cheaper than copper).
These cables are composed of a conductor (the element formed by one or more electrically conductive yarns), insulation (to cover the driver so that the electric current is not flowing out of the cable), with a layer of filling (insulating material to keep the circular shape of the whole) and coverage (of materials that protect the cable from the Sun, rain etc.).
Coaxial cable, on the other hand, is a cable that has two concentric conductors and which can carry electrical signals at high frequency. Drivers are separated by a dielectric called insulating layer.
The term "cable" is also used to refer to the television by cable, which is a service that allows consumers access to television signals by coaxial cables or optical fibers. The cable is a paid service (abandonment) Unlike open so-called channels (which are accessed using a simple antenna).
Finally, the notion of diplomatic cable mentioned the confidential texts issued by an Embassy or a consulate for the Chancellor of his country. The word cable is due to the fact that, for some time, these communications were sent through undersea cables.
