What is the Meaning & Definition of eco-tourism
The term eco-tourism emerged in the last years of the 20th century, when many regions of the planet began to suffer and to demonstrate clearly the problem of mass tourism generates in its natural or traditional characteristics. Thus, natural places as reserves, rural localities, beaches, skiing, etc. began to show that massive and constant passage of tourists had produced major changes in the appearance of the place as for example pollution, depletion of natural resources, emergence of new forms of energy and transportation that alter the environment, building poles and resorts that do not take into account the natural characteristics of the site , etc.
Thus, appears the notion of eco-tourism as an alternative to conventional tourism. For better understanding of what, we can say that it is a type of tourism that is based precisely on the massive, i.e. that the places that lend themselves to this type of tourism are not ready to accept huge amounts of people if not having reduced capacity in order to avoid the step and the constant and massive transit of travellers.
On the other hand, ecological tourism not resorts to the use of polluting energy sources such as oil, so many times to gain access to these reservoirs of nature is necessary to use means of transport more traditional boats, carts, bicycles, etc. At the same time, serviced that often dispense a place considered as eco-tourism space are focused around nature, which do not usually have electric power, do not allow the use of technology, nor the arrival of products which are not regional (to understand is that they generate more pollution in their transportation).
Lastly, based precisely on nature and not the artifices created by human beings, eco-tourism always aims make that guests can enjoy truly of everything that surrounds us and which rarely pay attention, without damaging it or transform it.
