What is the Meaning & Definition of engraving

It is known as engraving printing technique or art that involves prior work on a surface then covered it that with ink and which is obtained by pressing, different copies of the same model. The engraving is one of the most ancient forms with which human beings could perform works of art, as well as serving also as a method from which you can get many copies of the same design. The name of the technique, engraving, comes from the idea of recording the modifications or alterations performed to a surface, mark, trace of that area was worked. The engraving can be used both as art form as well as well as different types of brochures, flyers or stationery printing method. Throughout history, mankind has used various media to create his engravings ranging from metal, stone, wood and even nowadays artificial materials like the styrofoam or synthetic materials.
All these surfaces are worked in relief with different techniques, the most common being retired material manually. Thus, is a design on the support from digging material to generate layers of embossing, etc. In some cases, as for example the metal, engraving can be done based on the use of acids, since work on the metal may not be easy.
