What is the Meaning & Definition of Gigabyte

At the behest of computing, a gigabyte is a unit of storage, which is equivalent to 109 bytes and is symbolized with the characters: GB. Meanwhile, a byte is the storage unit of information that consists of a sequence of contiguous bits. Although initially it varied the amount of bits, with the time, standardized the size of an 8-bit byte, then, in the architecture of computers, 8-bit, are memory addresses, or other units of data comprising up to 8-bit width.
The byte has different multiples such as: kilobyte (1000 bytes), megabyte (1,000,000 bytes), terabyte (1,000,000,000,000 bytes) and gigabyte (1,000,000,000 bytes).
Meanwhile, regarding the binary use of gigabyte, the same, differs with respect to use decimal; the binary base is most common in the implementation of the concept for the design of hardware and software. Although, on the other hand, the gigabyte is also used to measure the capacity of storage and transmission in a computer system. For example, the capacity of hard disks of computers, also called hard drives, is measured in gigabytes or gigas, as is often abbreviated to the unit of storage in the current language.
Note that although some confuse them and treat them as the same, gigabyte and gigabit are not, because a gigabit is 1/8 of one gigabyte, because it refers to the bits, not bytes, being its symbol Gb or Gbit. Generally, gigabit, is used to indicate the rate of transmission of a data stream, or failing that, to describe a bandwidth.
On the other hand, Gigabyte Technology company is a Taiwanese company, founded in 1986 and which has become world renowned for their expertise in the manufacture of hardware, motherboards or motherboards, power supplies and video cards.
