What is the Meaning & Definition of translator

A translator is that professional who, on the basis of a text in a language makes it an equivalent text in a different language. For this activity the translator must learn about languages that translates, in addition, culture and idiosyncrasy associated with each language. It must be borne in mind that a language involves many elements which should be measured if intends to produce a correct translation (the humor in both languages, some and regional expressions, street turns, games of words, etc.).
Translator not can simply go changing words from one language to the other. If the final message did so it would not have much sense. Consider an exercise in translation from English to the Spanish in which appears the phrase to pull the leg. Literally means stretching the leg, but this translation would be wrong, because not refers to any leg, since his signifado is another: take the hair. The use of expressions serves as example for emphasis on the difficulty of the work of the translator.
The translator should not be limited to properly express a message written or oral but that it is important to be able to communicate the spirit of a message in a different language. This difficulty is increased when we speak of languages with radically different cultures. The English and the Spanish are different but share cultural elements of the Western world. On the other hand, the Japanese and the Spanish are languages with radically different alphabets and belonging to widely separated cultural traditions.
The classical works of literature have been translated into most languages. On the other hand, the prestige of an author depends, largely, of the number of languages in which his work has been translated.
The figure of the translator is not always recognized, although normally your name appears in the beginning of the book pages. In some cases, the translator is forced to do some kind of clarification of a work, which is indicated to footer with the acronym N.T (translator's note).

The online translator

The internet world offers tools that a few years ago would have been considered science fiction. One of them is the online translation. When we consult a website we have the option "translate this page". Its utility is relative, since it serves to get an approximate idea of a text which we do not understand but is not effective enough in their translation process. Online translation is currently deficient, but it is difficult to predict what may happen in the future. In the coming years, we will check if the translators continue to work or not.
