What is the Meaning & Definition of truth

All know internally what is truth, although so far there is no single specific definition. Indeed, even today, still the philosophy, theology and logic not found a unique way of describing it, and continue discussing concerning what is and how to get to it.
But an approximation to what the concept of truth, can be found in other terms. For example, the good faith, honesty, sincerity are synonymous with this. If to my ask me what is the truth, without a doubt, it would answer that truth is that which is, prior step by mental computer which made me to confirm that the thing is and is not a lie or a fallacy, for example. But the issue is not so clear, and this is where enters game the human reason, which is responsible for excellence, through the powers of rational, determined that it is the truth of what it is not, or at least will try to approach what more can this.
The theory of adaptation that has a Thomistic origin is the closest to what I commented more above, because for her, the truth, is the adequacy between the thing and the understanding, stressing precisely therein that the reason is the best way to find the truth. But apart from this, there are several theories on the matter. Some of the most well known are the consistency, which proposes that the truth must be consistent to a group of statements or beliefs. Which calls for consensus, believed that truth should be agreed upon by a specific group, and finally that of pragmatism, considers that the truth is the practical consequence of an idea.
But also, beyond of what is considered or not truth of agreement these theories, the truth is sought in different professional fields, and is there where perhaps becomes a reality or reflect a more real, empirical, approximation of what might be the truth.
For example, in the field of criminal law, the sought after truth is truth real, what really happened, who became involved, when was, where it happened and how. Very different from the concept of truth that uses civil law, where the truth that is simply exposed as "his version of the facts" each of the parties involved, and the judge or tax take a decision according to the complementation of these two parts/versions of the fact. In the criminal field, the Prosecutor should seek the "real" truth (as it is called), it cannot rid a sentence which merely exposed the defendant and the victim.
In journalistic activity, on the other hand, the concept of truth is linked to "objectivity". But clear, it is already well known that the cent per cent of objectivity in a profession as journalism is very utopian, for the simple fact that the journalist, like any human being, have preferences, ideologies and inclinations that prevent you from reaching a full objectivity. In this sense, the truth then begins to linking to the notion of "likelihood", i.e. what the journalist recounts to be as similar or as similar to what really happened.
In short, any of these theorizations with which you better agree, it offers a way to find the truth, that surely after the treasure and gold, is one of the most sought after since time immemorial by the man.
