A utility is a software tool that provides support for the purpose of developing and executing different programs.
For computing, utilities tools perform three types of tasks: maintenance, support in the configuration and execution of programs and other tasks in general. Examples of utilities are the disk defragmenters or schemes of decipherment of files.
There are different types of applications and tools that meet various complementary functions in a computer system. Means that the end user receives the benefits of the operation of the hardware running an operating system and other programs simultaneously or alternately. Application programs include utilities, which have different functions very especifisicas of facilitation and support.
Utilities are usually simple applications, but, clearly, very useful in everyday, common, or precise operations that are not covered by other older applications.
The most common utilities may include compressors or comprimidores of information. The most common are WinZip and WinRar, allowing you to compress data and files into folders for easy transportation from one system to another. The same software facilitates decompression of files once they have reached destination for its use.
Other utilities are the administrators of files such as Windows Explorer, to search for files in the various units of computer memory. There are also utilities programs FTP or network file transfer protocols. And on the other hand tools from remote computers, allowing to operate with a computer from another in a different location you can count on this list.
Utilities are highly broadcast applications and often each operating system includes a default package of these, according to the most frequent actions by the typical user. Many others can be downloaded via the Internet.
