What is the Meaning & Definition of virtue


The notion of virtue is abstract and is related to the idea of acting in pursuit of the common good. Here, can basically be understood in two ways: individually or at the level of transcendent condition of the human being. Virtue is generally understood as a phenomenon that is acquired from the socialization and community life is respect for each other which will allow our own survival. The virtue of acting according to the values that imposes or develop a particular society always will be a benefit for all.
In this sense, we can say that the virtue as essential and transcendental condition of human beings is what leads us naturally to seek the common good and to develop ethical and moral values that contribute to community life. Virtue then is something that gets to share our existence with others, but it is this same that can corrupt.
The virtue at the individual level is always related to more practical and concrete elements that have to do with the way in which a person performs on a daily basis. Here, virtues such as kindness, solidarity, ethics, respect for the other, commitment, justice and truth are some of the examples that make that an individual can be defined as a subject with great virtues. However, in this respect, the virtues of an individual may not only social or moral but that may have to do with its virtues aesthetic, political, ideological, creative, physical, etc.
According to the Western tradition, the four most important virtues of the human being are temperance, prudence, justice and the fortress, being all of them are necessary for the development of strong social experiences, committed, fair and beneficial to all. Also, it should be noted that they were included to the religious doctrines of different religions
Temperance
Temperance is the virtue that suggests moderation in terms of the attraction of the pleasures and then promotes the balance in this respect. When someone owns Temperance will dominate his will by on the instinctive and always keep desires at Bay and in consequence with honesty. For instance, temperance is linked to concepts such as the restraint and sobriety.
Prudence
Prudence is the virtue par excellence from acting fair, correct and cautious and with regard to communication, prudence becomes apparent when using a language clear, cautious, literal, and according to the situation and context. Act with prudence also supposed to do so respecting freedom and the feelings of others and even if they are not in line cn our ideas.
Fortress
The virtue of the fortress means to overcome fear in all its aspects and to prevail firmness with regard to decisions to be taken and also the determination with regard to the pursuit of the good that is intended to achieve. Beyond the obstacles and pitfalls that they stand in the way and the sacrifices that have to be done to achieve the goal, the fortress will bring value to our soul and will let us move forward, with courage and strength to overcome them and finally manage to leave victorious.
Justice
The virtue of Justice, or rather those who act guided by this virtue will especially deal with give your neighbor what he is and deserves right and will always do so with balance compared to the rest of the people and the common good.
Now, vale said that the authors ascribed to Christianity on the basis of the aforementioned virtues developed the theological virtues, which are those habits that the footballer God gives them both in the will as the intelligence men to thus be able to order their actions. These are: faith, hope and charity and is considered as a complement to the cardinal virtues.
Faith
Faith involves nodding will firmly to a truth exposed in the divine revelation, i.e. the believer thereby or which religion adheres to a truth by the authority who witnessed it. Without a doubt, faith is the basis, the pillar on which religions are based. The faithful rely blindly to standards that they provide or expose the authorities of the religion are still.
Hope
Meanwhile, the hope is the virtue through which man will manifest confidence and certainty with respect to the attainment of eternal life and of the provision of the means which will help to get it.
Charity
Charity within Christianity means love of God above all and that love also extends to others just by that love of God. Therefore charity will require good practice and act as and with respect to the brothers. In addition, charity will generate reciprocity, i.e. occurs and returns in the same way and with the same intensity. And he will never hand the interest and yes the generosity.
