Plato's philosophical works have a universal character that are also beyond the time in which they were written, source of wisdom for modern readers.
While there are many things that have expiration date, including aspects that have to do with art as shown in the ephemeral nature of some fashion, on the other hand, that which is universal has no expiration date. From the point of view of culture and knowledge, this integrates authors that are universal, i.e. a historical reference for what must be known.
Universal rights
Universality also demonstrates the validity of a principle or law. For example, natural rights are a universal value because they are valid for all people in general according to their dignity. These natural rights define what is consistent with the good of the human being.The truth is also a universal element. There are some absolute truths that are unchanged. It may occur that science will some one hypothesis that is subsequently disproved. However, there are universal truths that are the result of the experience. For example, a universal truth is that the human being is born and dies. In a changing world which displays a constant transformation, the universal truths become immovable principles which offer the subject security.
The good is universal
Good also has a universal value that good deeds have meaning in any historical time. There are historical figures who have left their mark at the social level by its clear ethical component in good practice. The universality of good also has its base in own natural principles since when humans perform an action that is consistent with human nature perfected himself. On the other hand, when you perform an action contrary to its nature, it hurts his own essence.
