June 1, 1951 Donato Battle, also known as Dodi, was born in Bologna on June 1, 1951 day; the family is the place to feed his musical passions: the father plays the violin, guitar, uncle and Grandpa's mandolin and piano. Just five years Donato begins studying music playing the accordion that will continue into adolescence, a period in which the passion for rock, and like many young can happen, decides to try to strum a guitar. Deepen the study and technique, and begins his first live experiences together with some groups in the area (including the "Meteors", which accompanied Gianni Morandi). Thanks to my friend Valerio Negrini, after a trial period of one week at the home of Riccardo Fogli, Dodi just 17 years joins Roby Facchinetti, Red Canzian and Stefano d'orazio, the formation of Pooh, to date the longest serving Italian group. Later he began studying piano: composed by developing a particular style that reflects both guitar and piano instrumental approaches. David is also the lead singer of "Tanta voglia di lei", first real success of Pooh, as well as many other tracks. Deepens the study of six strings perfecting a personal style, taste, virtuoso technique and melody. It's 1986 when, during a tour in Germany, next to the name of Ella Fidgerald as "best singer", Dodi Battaglia gets recognition as "best guitarist". The fact seems to awaken the interest of Italian critics that the year after giving the award for best guitarist ever. To date Dodi, for his experience and for its quality, is considered to be an example and a landmark in the Italian guitar scene. Over the years he has worked with great Italian and international artists such as sugar, Vasco Rossi, Gino Paoli, Mia Martini, Raf, Enrico Ruggeri, Franco Mussida, Maurizio Solieri and Tommy Emmanuel. One of the famous American manufacturers of guitars, Fender, dedicated a "Signature Model": a guitar built and marketed on its specific nicknamed "Dodicaster". Similarly the Maton Australia has created for him an acoustic model. Released on June 13, 2003, after two years in the making, "solo" acoustic solo instrumental by Dodi Battaglia. It contains unreleased songs from multi-ethnic Mediterranean flavor composed and arranged by the same musician, inlaid with pop melodies and international from virtuosity. On June 13, 2003 came out "solo," his first solo instrumental album.
