June 27, 1974 I Soliti Idioti 'm Fabrizio Biggio (born on 27 June 1974 in Florence) and Francesco Mandelli (born 3 April 1979 in Erba, in the province of Como). The two know each other to Mtv, where between 2000 and 2001 are part of the program "Mtv Mad": in this broadcast, conducted by Gip, Biggio and Mandelli (nicknamed "Nongio") pretend to be viewers of the show. The two are reunited in 2004, presenting the comedy show "Mtv Pets Show," while in 2005 starring in the sitcom "Mtv Bathroom".

The first sketch

Starting in 2009, creating the sketch series "the usual idiots". The show is a tribute to the Italian comedy (the title itself invokes the cult film "I soliti ignoti") and intend to be ironic and teasing the stereotype of the average Italian. Inspired by "Little Britain," a British comedy series, the sketch show proposed by Biggio and Mandelli is based on a grotesque comedy and sometimes vulgar. The first series consists of ten episodes, and airs every Saturday evening from 28 February to 25 April 2009 from 10:30. Many of the episodes deal with burning issues such as prostitution, euthanasia and the economic crisis, but also the vision of homosexuality and politics. For this reason since the first season the show is sometimes criticized for its shamelessness and vulgarity, as well as for the moral profligacy of some protagonists that are staged.

The second and third season

After the success of the first season, Biggio and Mandelli returning to work to achieve a second: the first three episodes that comprise it are shown in July 2009 on the occasion of the Roma Fiction Fest for category out of competition sitcoms. On television, the second season, relying on guest stars such as Rocco Tanica and Paola e Chiara, 18 February to 18 is proposed by April 2010, for a total of fourteen episodes. Beginning in February 2011, the usual Idiots are back on Mtv with the third season of the programme: in this case too there are guest stars: Rocco Tanica, but Giulia Michelini (in the sketch of the Mafia) and Gianmarco Tognazzi. The series airs from 16 February to 31 March of 2011, for fourteen episodes in total.

The usual idiots: the movie

In 2011, the usual Idiots make their debut at the cinema with the film "the usual idiots-movie" directed by Enrico Lando and scripted by Biggio and Mandelli, also by Martin Ferro, who is also author of the tv series. Filming takes place between July and September in Lombardy and Rome, and the film is distributed in Italian cinemas from November 4: to promote it, Biggio and Mandelli participate in several tv shows, from "Friends" to "Colorado", passing by "X Factor" and "reservoir dogs", where they undergo a double interview. The play, produced by Pietro Valsecchi of Taodue, features-among others-by Miriam Leone, Rocco Tanica, Maurizia Cacciatori, Cristina Del Basso, Valeria Bilello and Francesco Sarcina. "The usual idiots-movie" turns out to be a great success: in the first weekend of programming surpasses four million of box office takings, and the overall gain is about ten and a half million euros; the comedy is the most watched Italian film between September and November, despite heavy objections raised by critics. In February of 2012 the usual Idiots are involved in a controversial appearance at the "Festival di Sanremo": during their performance, staged in late evening, propose the sketch of the homosexual couple pretending to be married in a ceremony celebrated by Gianni Morandi, conductor of the Festival. The sketch, however, in the following hours is stigmatized in many quarters, with some LGBT associations who take a stand against the usual Idiots. While Gay Center speaks of an offence to the gay community, Arcigay highlights a situation "disgraceful", and the Association of parents of homosexuals stresses the "severity" quite offensive.

The final season and the new movie

In April following, anyway, Mandelli and Biggio are back as the usual idiots on Mtv for the fourth and final season of the sketch show, which sees the participation of Francesco Renga, Benedetta Parodi, Rocco Siffredi, Piero Chiambretti, Teo Teocoli, Camilo and Madalina Guinea. The show is presented from 26 April to 7 June 2012, with fourteen episodes in total. In June, however, Biggio and Mandelli start spinning their second film, called "the 2 idiots", which is distributed in cinemas from 20 December and encasing at the box office just under nine million. Produced by Enrico Lando, always direct and dramatized Taodue always from iron, Biggio and Mandelli, the comedy starring the Club Dogo, Rosita Celentano, Teo Teocoli and Gianmarco Tognazzi.

Singers in Sanremo

On 14 December of 2014 Carlo Conti, during transmission of Raiuno "L'Arena", announced that the usual Idiots will be among the competitors of "Festival di Sanremo" by 2015 in the category Big: they will be back on the stage of the Ariston, this time in the race, to sing the song "life of hell".
