Biography of Jordan Belfort

A Wolf on Wall Street

July 9, 1962 Jordan Belfort was born on July 9, 1962 in New York, the son of Max and Leah, two administrators. He began working as a telephone operator at a brokerage firm, "LF Rothschild": finding himself closely with a world where investors are able to achieve significant easy profits in a short time and without risk, in turn, decided to found a company, "Stratton Oakmont", despite not having any special knowledge in the field. Its purpose is, quite simply, to earn a lot of money in the shortest possible time. At first, the goal is reached: Jordan Belfort accumulates money out of money, which invariably spends in each kind of luxury, from Rolex to villas, from Ferrari to drugs, as well as in women. Even goes so far to classify high-class prostitutes as stock market headlines ("pink sheet" for those who ask for less than 100 dollars, "nasdaq" to those who ask for between three hundred and five hundred dollars, "blue chip" for those who ask more), in a whirlwind of unlimited fun. Don't miss-among its properties-yachts, including Nadine, originally built for Coco Chanel: in June 1996 the boat sinks off the East coast of Sardinia because of poor sea conditions and engine failure. To save the passengers, including Jordan, St. George's ship of the Italian Navy, in collaboration with a patrol boat of the port of Olbia. Aboard the yacht, 52 meters long, there are less than twenty people: the castaways are picked up by two helicopters and safely. The ship, however, reaches the seabed, to more than a kilometer deep. The episode, however, cannot touch it in any way the rich New Yorker, who continues in his bogus investments. To foster the success of Jordan Belfort are not skills or knowledge, but simply a technique well known among fraudsters, the so-called pump & dump: the "Stratton Oakmont," basically, drives up the price of the shares they buy, for reselling to his customers (with considerable gains) certain to accomplish a great deal. At a time when the stock is traded, price is no longer supported by nobody, and immediately the prices collapse. The scam of Belfort, which earns fifty million dollars a year at the expense of its customers, was discovered soon by the Fbi and the Sec (Consob): indicted for money laundering and fraud in 1998 (after having caused losses of around 200 million dollars), was sentenced to 22 months ' imprisonment (sentence reduced by virtue of its full cooperation with the Fbi). Once out of prison, Jordan Belfort is a character known all over the world, to the point that he decides to tell their story in two books, "The wolf of Wall Street" ("the Wolf of Wall Street") and "Catching the wolf of Wall Street (" Catching the Wolf of Wall Street "), published in more than forty countries. Later he undertook a career as a motivational speaker, and in his work he teaches customers how to succeed in an ethical manner and respecting the law. In 2013, its history is also a movie directed by Martin Scorsese, entitled-in fact-"The wolf of Wall Street": to impersonate Jordan Belfort is Leonardo DiCaprio.
