Charles Philip Arthur George Mountbatten-Windsor was born in London on November 14, 1948, is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and her consort Prince Philip Duke of Edinburgh. Born at Buckingham Palace, at the age of four years automatically becomes Crown Prince and Duke of Cornwall just the mother becomes Queen of the United Kingdom (1952). Becomes Prince of Wales and Earl of Chester on July 26, 1958.
Studying in school Gordonstoun in Scotland and later at Trinity College, Cambridge. Learn Welsh, studying at Wales College Aberystwyth. His full title is his Royal Highness the Prince of Wales, except in Scotland where it is known as his Royal Highness the Prince Charles, Duke of Rothesay.
Military grade holds the rank of Rear Admiral of the Royal Navy (Royal Navy) and, in General, the most honorific of the Household Brigade. As successor of his mother, Queen Elizabeth II, Charles is heir to the throne of sixteen sovereign States: the United Kingdom, plus fifteen former members of the British Empire, known as the Commonwealth. In addition to its actual position, the figure of Charles is known worldwide for the marriage contract on July 29, 1981 with Lady Diana Spencer, a young member of a rich and ancient English family. The new Princess of Wales becomes a short time into a true media star, followed by newspapers and imitated by many women for his rich style of class and elegance.
On 9 December 1992 the wedding comes, however, at the end, with an announcement by British Prime Minister John Major's official separation in the House of Commons; the divorce comes the 28 August 1996. Despite the divorce, Diana does not give up to live at Kensington Palace and continues to carry out public works of charity. Charles and Diana have two sons: William, born on June 21, 1982 and Henry, born on September 15, 1984.
On August 31, 1997 Diana died tragically in a car crash in Paris along with Dodi Al-Fayed. Widowed, Carlo does not hide his relationship with Camilla Parker-Bowles, his old flame for many years, including during his marriage to Diana. After the death of Diana, Camilla then becomes the unofficial companion of Charles in many of his public appearances. The condition raises many controversies about the possibility of a marriage. With the passage of time and public opinion, both the Church are convinced that marriage can be celebrated.
So the two come together on April 9, 2005, with a civil ceremony celebrated in the Town Hall of the English town of Windsor (the wedding, scheduled for day 8, was moved by a day because of the funeral of Pope John Paul II). With the wedding, Camilla Parker-Bowles receives the title of Duchess of Cornwall: when-and if-Charles becomes King, Camilla will receive the title of her Royal Highness the Princess Consort.
