Christian Dior is among the most famous designers of the 20th century. Born in Granville, France on January 21, 1905, he first worked as a fashion illustrator, then as a fashion Assistant in Paris whether for Lucien Lelong which for Robert Piguet. The "Ligne Corollas" or "New Look", as they called the journalists, was his first and most revolutionary collection. It was a collection characterized by the roundness of the shoulders, the emphasis given to the bust and the emphasis placed on the narrow waist and bell-shaped skirts of sumptuous material. Unlike the name given (New Look), this collection wasn't quite innovative, but looked back to some past models: in particular, rested heavily on achievements of French fashion of the years 1860.
Not surprisingly, Dior himself later admitted that he was inspired by the elegant clothes she wore her mother. Dior, however, with his new silhouettes, was the Chief back to Paris as the world capital of fashion, after it had lost its importance during World War II. Nevertheless, there was much criticism of the New Look, especially by feminists. The main accusation was that of bringing women to a decorative role and almost subordinate, while others were shocked by the extravagant use of fabric ornaments and from footage, since at that time the clothing was still rationed. After this collection, Dior created still numerous, persevering through them in the speech started with the old ones, and especially moving always toward the initial issues with patterned fabrics.
Its less structured collection, called the "Lily of the Valley", was youthful, fresh and simple, created as a reaction to the comeback of Chanel in 1954. In contrast with Chanel, Dior established a model of a woman marked by romanticism and a very feminine look, through which emphasized luxury, sometimes at the expense of comfort. Shortly after this last "exploit", caught him the death in 1957 only 52 years. However, as it is often said to genes, what she had to say was able to express it fully, so as to be able to do to its name a synonym for luxury and class.
