Giovanni Della Casa, or simply known as Monsignor Della Casa, was born in Florence on July 28 1503 allegedly. He studied first in Bologna, then in Florence, under the guidance of Ubaldino Bandinelli, who directs it towards the humanities and literature. Together with Ludovico Beccadelli, Bandinelli's friend, Giovanni Della Casa is passionate and is absorbed by the reading of Latin Classics, for a period of two years. After you have paid special attention to the study of classical Greek language in Bologna, in 1532 the House began his career in the Church in Rome. Becomes Archbishop of Benevento in 1544 and, later that year, the Papal Nuncio in Venice.
In the capital of Veneto draws up the introduction of the courts of the Inquisition, prepare some famous trials and try to create a League against Charles v. it is precisely in these years writing numerous poems and treated however, when Julius III was elected Pope, his fortune declines. The House decided to retire to a villa in the province of Treviso where he devoted himself to his studies. Here writes his most famous work: "Etiquette overo de ' costumi", which is still famous and known simply as "Etiquette," Handbook of good manners. It's the 1558; the work will be published posthumously and will enjoy great success right from the start that will extend to all of Europe. Afterwards Pope Paul IV, who succeeded Julius III, recalls Monsignor Della Casa in Rome, as Vatican Secretary of State. He dies shortly after, in Rome on 14 November 1556.
