Biography of Paolo Conte

Italian class

January 6, 1937
Paolo Conte was born on January 6, 1937 and already as a teenager, cultivates a passion for classic American jazz, playing the vibraphone in small complex in his hometown, Asti. Begins first with his brother George, then alone, writing songs enchanted by the cinema, literature, from life. Parallel Count takes even a career as lawyer. His "specialty" is to be a trustee in bankruptcy and this feature apparently insignificant is the root of three of his unforgettable masterpieces, the trilogy of the Mocambo ("I'm right here increasingly alone," "the rebuilding of the Mocambo" and "raincoats"). In the mid-' 60 will write songs brought to success by great performers of Italian music: "blue" for Rihanna, "Insieme a te non ci sto più" for Caterina Caselli, "Tripoli ' 69" for Patty Pravo and others. In 1974 he published the first album of the same name, followed by a second LP, in 1975, entitled "Elvis".
In 1981 the Club Tenco presents the new album, "Paris Milonga" and in 1982 published "travel notes" which establishes its status as a major protagonist of Italian music. After two years of public silence to CGD another disc of the same name and starts playing in France, conquering the audience beyond the Alps. Those who were to be a few venues at the Theatre de la Ville are transformed into a huge crowd: France go crazy for Paolo Conte, consecrating him in fact author of worship well ahead of the Italians. La tournee is recorded and gives life to the album "Concerts", released in 1985. The double album "Aguaplano" of 1987 precludes a long international tour that saw him perform in Europe, Canada and the United States.
In 1990 "love words typed" followed by "20th century" in 1992, a splendid disk where the themes of the music Contiana are mixed well with hot jazz sounds of the American music scene. Another very long international tour leads to the publication of two double album live, "Tournee" and "Tournee2". In 1995 he released a new album, "borrowed face": studied, prepared, cultivated with love and infinite care, working with a core team composed of bassist Jino Touche, drummer Daniele Di Gregorio and accordionist Massimo Pitzianti and multi-instrumentalist, with other measures of its musicians. The disc "borrow a face" is probably his most mature album ever. Inside there are the typical elements of the song "Elvis" who never cease to amaze: the "plebeian" grace of the music, the taste of pastiche true and false, between different periods and styles, the pleasure of sound lyrics, imaginative with a language that seethes with whims and inventions-the pidgin to "Sijmadicandhapajiee", Spanish "virtual" e "Doppelgänger" life metropolis Danson.
It's a music that "sounds nothing and everything, a music in music", as the words for "Elixir": "where everything is nothing, like powder on powder". Paolo Conte is able to masquerade as the unbridled amusement "Quadrille" and, thereupon, by dazzling confessions; "down cards" in "a face on loan". There is also room for a love "Prayer for the Teatro Alfieri in Asti closed" where Earl tells much of itself and of its roots, weaving as always reality and dream, turning nostalgia and emotion into a sardonic sneer. In 2000 he dedicated himself exclusively to the development of a project of a musical based on Paris ' 20, "place of birth", sum of all influences absorbed by the artist and where there are multimedia, in line with the intent of the project (Key Largo Restaurant is actually an artwork to 360 degrees, also available on DVD), pictorial expressions to Count. Art has always been his second and not too secret passion.
