Drink to a meeting, in Capri

July 27, 1939
Since he debuted in 1958, the year of the first great success "Malatia", Peppino Di Capri is a real star of Italian music. Just as he managed to reconcile, in the happiest moments, the Neapolitan tradition with new products of rock 'n' roll and twist (the "St Tropez", symbol of an era). Giuseppe Faiella, aka Peppino Di Capri, was born on July 27, 1939 on the island of Capri and became popular, starting precisely from the years ' 60, thanks first to his interpretations of Neapolitan classics with a modern twist. The city and the island adopt it immediately for his delicate way to sing the songs, included in a repertoire ranging from traditional songs certainly others created by him. Among the first we can remember his unforgettable renditions of "I te vurria Vasa" or "Voce ' e notte", while among the best of its production include "Luna caprese" and "Champagne". His is credited with having brought in Italy the twist performing "Let's twist again" by Chubby Checker. Peppino Di Capri was the only Italian singer to climb on the same stage trod by the Beatles, on the occasion of their three legendary Italian concerts in Milan, Genoa and Rome (1968).
He, who at the time was one of the few Italian representatives of rock'n ' roll, had the honour to open the concerts of "the four" (John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr) in Liverpool. But for Peppino Di Capri the real success comes with participation at Sanremo Festival (was presented in nine editions). In 1973 he won with "a great love and nothing more," and is repeated in 1976 with "I don't do that anymore"; later, with other successes also in Sanremo collects songs such as "and mo and mo" (1985), "the dreamer" (1987), "Hurrah for Maria" (1990) and "Favola Blues" (1991). Also in 1991 represents the Italian song in Europe, participating with "Comme è ddoce ' o mare" in the Eurovision Song Contest.
In January 1996 is on tour with Fred Bongusto in theatres throughout Italy. This event was a live album that engages the duo with the orchestras until late summer 1996. The following year a great idea: the relaunch on CD the legendary 45 laps, for "single". In September 1998 he celebrated his forty-year career with the show "Champagne, Capri!" broadcast on RaiUno the beautiful piazzetta. On that occasion, Peppino wanted to gather them in a double CD its most significant successes in a long career.
