Biography of Steve Buscemi

Mr. Pink has made its way

December 13, 1957
Actor from the look surreal and Director among the most interesting American-although in this capacity has worked on television, albeit upscale, as the series "the Sopranos"-Steve Vincent was born on December 13, 1957 New York District of Brooklyn Buscemi. Grew up on Long Island, a cross between luxury and too modest, starts taking an interest in acting in high school. After graduation he worked for four years as a firefighter: hard years in which is undergoing unnerving sacrifices and to a life full of risks and pitfalls. Not that it is bad in those shoes, only that in her heart beats fire. And if home at night, does the evidence in front of the mirror, a little lacking.
So one fine day makes a decision: follows the call of heart and moved to Manhattan's East Village to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute, the springboard of a considerable number of star. Courage is rewarded. It is cool to study when in 1986 is chosen by Director Bill Sherwood to play Nick, an Aids patient, rock singer in "Parting Glances", one of the first feature films on the theme of disease (the same Sherwood died of Aids in 1990), evidence allowing him to enter the Kingdom a bit esoteric and occult independent films (in America, dominated by the majors). These are actors, directors, writers and intellectuals who attempt to distance itself from the dominance of big Hollywood production houses, able only to churn out ready made and rimasticati a thousand times ... The so-called "already seen". But Steve Buscemi is another idea.
He wants to make something worth getting up and engage without arrogance of having to do something artistic but at least something that isn't entirely ephemeral. Takes all the effort: over sixty films starting in the mid-' 80. A "star" real cannot become one, not that, even if, one day, come two loonies that surname are Coen, and propose a movie. Are those that then everyone will know as the Coen brothers, and "Barton Fink" is an example of fruitful cooperation in a movie not strictly commercial; then, a decade later, will arrive "Fargo." The other man who knocks on his door to ask him a part is called Quentin Tarantino. It is not yet known but with "reservoir dogs" (in which Steve, in the guise of Mr. Pink, has a big test) and especially with "Pulp fiction" will impose a new style to American cinema. For Steve Buscemi will then "Con Air" (with John Malkovich, Nicolas Cage), "the Big Lebowski" (with Jeff Bridges, John Goodman), "Final Fantasy", "Armageddon" (starring Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck) and other titles again. He has worked with directors like Altman, Jarmusch, Ivory, Rodriguez, etc.
As mentioned, Steve Buscemi has also extensive experience as a Director. His debut came in 1992 with the short film "What happened to Pete," which he also wrote and starred in, but also directed some episodes of the tv series "Homicide: life on the street" and "Oz", besides the already mentioned "the Sopranos." In 1996 he wrote and directed his first feature film, "trees lounge," inspired by decadent tales of writer cursed Charles Bukowski. In 2000 he tried again with the touching "Animal factory". New York firefighter from 1980 to 1984, the day after the attacks of September 11, 2001, Steve Buscemi has gone into his old barracks to provide volunteer service anonymously, working for a week, twelve hours a day, at ground zero looking for survivors in the rubble. After "Lonesome Jim" (2005), back behind-but also before-the camera in 2007 to shoot "Interview", remake of the murdered Dutch filmmaker Theo Van Gogh; the film tells of the interview with a star of soap operas on the part of a journalist disillusioned and self-destructive.
