Susanna Camusso was born in Milan on August 14, 1955. Begins to deal with Labor Union at the age of twenty, when still a university student. He attended the Bachelor of ancient letters while coordinating the trade union activities on the right to education, to the courses of the 150 hours of Metalworkers Federation (FLM). From 1977 (he's only 22) and until 1997 's local ruling FIOM (Metalworkers Federation Employees) in Milan, then of the Lombard and finally the National Secretariat of the same trade union of metal workers of the CGIL (Italian General Confederation of labour), with the important steel and automotive production expertise. Susanna Camusso takes on the regional secretariat of the FLAI (Agro-industry Workers Federation), the agro-industrial sector Union CGIL and in 2001 she was elected General Secretary of the CGIL in Lombardy.
In 2008 the Confederal Secretary CGIL, acquiring enters the national responsibilities in relation to different sectors: policies of the productive sectors, cooperation, trade and agriculture. The June 8, 2010 she was elected Deputy Secretary General of the CGIL, with responsibility for the coordination of cross-cutting areas of work to departments. Reaches the apex of career at the beginning of November of 2010 when it happens to Guglielmo Epifani, General Secretary of the CGIL (getting the 79.1% of the vote): she is the first woman to be elected to lead the main Italian Trade Union. Large secular beliefs and open mind, in addition to industrial action, Susanna Camusso is part of the women's movement and is among the promoters of the "leave the Silence"; has always been committed to the civil rights movement has helped support LGBT (lesbian, Gay, bisexual and Transgender). To her, the outgoing leader Guglielmo Epifani said: "it has ability and experience to do well and the qualities needed to lead the Organization of head and heart".
