The computer concept of 'data warehouse' refers to the process by which an organization or private company stores all data and information necessary to own the same performance. It is assumed that this type of material is organized in a way just to facilitate the analysis and the preparation of reports in situations where it is necessary to do so. Having easy access to important data will be directly related to the effectiveness of the various tasks of the company.
The data warehouse concept was born in the Decade of the 80s in the IBM company. The researchers who developed it sought w a system enabling a fluid and permanent data management that is at the same time organized according to specific needs. These data could be of varied type and cover different areas of the company. In this way, is not only save time and energy, but also the high monetary cost of systems previously used.
The system data warehouse or data store is managed through two central concepts: integration and combination of different types of data that are used in different areas and spaces of the Organization on the one hand, and the separation and selection of that same information according to the specific needs of each user or section of the company.
Normally, when we talk about data warehouse refers to a system that is organized based on themes or special subjects, which then allows data and information of the same type to be always connected. Similarly, it is a system that can evolve over time and assimilate information changes such that each new access reflects the necessary differences. Also defined as a volatile type system because not never lost any information, which makes it easier to resort to old data or which were not in use.
