Meaning and Definition of Finger

Definition of finger

The finger is one of the most popular and easily recognizable parts of the human body. In the specific case of the human being, the normal parameters established the presence of twenty pairs of a different finger, ten hands and ten feet, being reflected so opposite in the foot or hand opposite. Fingers are considered the most external part of the limbs such as arms or legs and are those that allow, especially in hand, to perform many actions that no other animal can run due to its shape.
While the vast majority of mammals possess different types of elements that can meet the times of fingers (jaws, for example), the only ones which have fingers clearly distinguishable from the rest of the Palm are apes and, of course, the human being. In both cases the fingers are elongated in the hands and feet shorter since the latter are not used as frequently.
Within this distinction, the human is the only that has more sophisticated finger as to perform different activities that require greater accuracy such as grab elements, writing or marking different things. This is achieved through the separation of the thumb that is not as marked as in the human case of the apes.
The fingers are classified in terms of size: the big toe is always the most important, also known as thumb; the index finger, which is normally used to indicate or say something for being the first line; the mayor, second finger on the line that does not include the thumb and the longest of all; the ring, which receives its name since tradition is the wedding ring and finally the finger little finger or smallest of all. Each of these fingers and foot are also divided into three phalanges or sections determined by the presence of bones internal to the muscle of the finger. The phalanges are those that allow bend fingers in different options and thus give more possibilities for movement to the hand.
