Meaning and Definition of Hybrid

Definition of hybrid

The hybrid term refers to everything that is the result of the mixture of two or more elements of a different nature or type. The hybrid is understood then as something that is not purely one of the parties which composed it if not that takes elements from all of them to become something new. Incidentally, the concept of hybrid or hybridization (the process by which a hybrid is generated) is common both to issues having to do with nature, biology, as well as to those things which are related to technology.
When we talk about something and characterized hybrid we're then meaning that object or element was born out of the union or combination of two or more things that they were not of the same nature, whether we speak of natural elements such as technology. Hybrid being, that new element takes up elements of the parts that compose it and can be more efficient, more perfect, more elevated. The process of hybridization can occur spontaneously in nature (as it is common with different living organisms adapting to different conditions of life) but in the majority of cases we should acknowledge the planned action of the man.
Some of the elements that are usually known as hybrids can be very different among themselves. For example, it is common to speak of hybrid when reference is made to a breed of dog that arose from the union of two different races together. These hybrid dogs are especially created to take the best from each of the other races. A clear example of this is the dog Pitbull mix from Bulldogs and Terriers. However, many of these breeds are today considered pure. It is also common to find different types of plants or plants that are consumed by humans and which are hybrids of other species of flora to provide human beings with new properties.
Finally, in regards to technology, the emergence of artifacts and machines that mix systems and characteristics of different origins, such as the hybrid car that uses both traditional and ecological engines is also common.
