If this did not exist in the form of Convention it would be virtually impossible that people could exchange ideas, feelings, and even emotions. Speech is the most traditional way through which language expresses itself and as well mentioned above, this is not limited to oral expression, but it can also be transmitted through writing and gestural language or sign, with the latter being the most widely used by people who have disabilities to communicate, as it is the case of deaf-mutes for example.
The languages are based on alphabets, which in the case of latin has been sustained in what is known as ABC, and thence arise such as the Spanish, Italian, French and even the English language. However, the latter has Saxon roots, and this sounds very different to others appointed. Emerge from the Cyrillic alphabet languages such as azeri, Turkish or Russian.

While there are many languages in the world, the most universal and known by all, this means that they are also spoken and taught not only in their countries of origin, are: the English, the Spanish, French, Portuguese and Italian. Thus for example is very common, although in Spain the national language is the Spanish, there are a lot of people who also will speak and understand English. Other globally emerging languages are Chinese, Japanese, and German. This situation occurs because in schools and universities, in addition to existing material aimed at the teaching of the language, is often also implemented the teaching of a second language. Even in many parts of the world, there are also specialized institutes in which people can further improve learning another language and get for example to teach it.
There are approximately almost 7 thousand languages in the world. Many truth? It is that, in addition to the official languages of each country, also those dialects or indigenous languages that may be encountered are taken into account in this issue. Dialects, in general, are deformations of a language which is spoken within the country, but that has different pronunciations in caa region/State. For example, the Italian language is clear, the official language of Italy, but within the territory can be found as the Neapolitan, Piedmontese, Marcheggiano or Sicilian dialects. On the other hand, indigenous languages are those that we find in general in America, Africa, Asia or Oceania countries and belong to ancestral languages of tribes or communities who have lived or are still living in those territories. For example, the Quechua in the Peru or the Mapuche in Argentina.
It often happens that, by appropriation or in migrant communities, they can warp or adapt certain words. Consider for example the word "chat", derived from the word chat in English, that means something as well as chat or talk. Or also "Googling" derived from Google, which in addition to being the name of the famous search engine, means precisely to search or explore. This cross between languages is often commonly called spanglish (Spanish and English mixed), but nevertheless, you can find the same example among other languages as we know under the name of portuñol, that would be the mixture of Portuguese and Spanish.
