Definition of shoulder

The shoulder is the structure that links the Member above the chest, is the joint that has the greatest range of movement which also made it the most unstable joint. In it three bones are involved such as the humerus, shoulder blade and collarbone.
The shoulder enables the movement of the arm in flexion, extension, internal rotation, external rotation, adduction (approach to the trunk) and abduction (away from the trunk); all this makes that it can be placed in any plane of the space arm.

Causes of shoulder pain

Estimated presenting at a general level of 3 to 7 in 100 people some kind of involvement of the shoulder joint. Much of the disorders are degenerative type by overuse of the joint, or secondary to sports injuries, these include:
Osteoarthritis. Cartilage injury can affect the joint that joins the humerus with scapula called glenohumeral or the Union of the clavicle with shoulder blade known as the acromioclavicular.
Tendinitis biceps or the supraespinoso.
It is the inflammation of the tendons that these muscles are inserted into the humerus.

Bursitis.
Corresponds to inflammation of serous bags that are filled with fluid that have function to facilitate the sliding of the tendons on the joints, usually they inflamed or tear after sudden movements producing intense pain which restricts movement.
Also known as frozen shoulder adhesive Capsulitis.
In this case there is involvement of all the ligaments and tendons in the shoulder accompanied by fibrosis which makes that the shoulder can not be any movement, sometimes is product of the voluntary inmobilization which makes the person to prevent pain that leads to that finally lost all ranges of motion.

Tips for preventing shoulder injuries

-Avoid carrying out activities with arms that need to take them over the head, if it should climb a ladder or use a step stool so that the working area is at the height of the shoulders and not above them.
-Do not sleep or watch television with your hands under your head, this causes tension in rotator cuff.
-Avoid moving weight, if it should distribute it between the two arms or move the load hugging it against the chest.
-Women should avoid using very large or heavy purses.
-Must ensure that children and young people use backpack properly placing a strip on each shoulder, if it is possible to choose a backpack with wheels.
-Before practicing any sport is necessary to pre-heat and do stretches at the end, it is recommended to carry out a training plan that allows strengthening the muscles used to prevent that they injured.
-Pain is a warning that something isn't right, if pain in the shoulder after any activity or movement stop immediately.
