Gynaecology is a branch of medicine that is responsible for the study, diagnosis and treatment of the diseases of women, encompassing all aspects of women's health. The field of action of Gynaecology is not limited to adult women, adolescents and even children can present problems in the gynaecological sphere that need evaluation and treatment by this specialty.
Gynecology consultation is one of the main consultations in preventive medicine, being a must visit at least once a year by the women of reproductive age, even before initiating sexual activity, that is the best time to play aspects related to fertility, family planning, contraception and prevention of sexually transmitted diseases. Once the reproductive age Gynecology encompasses aspects of the older woman, especially menopause and osteoporosis.
