Brain Meaning: What is it, Characteristics and Meaning

  • Brain Meaning

    What is Cerebro:

The brain is part of the nervous system and is one of the organs of the brain. All vertebrate animals have a brain, although it varies in size. In all cases, the brain is located in the head, protected by the skull.

The word brain comes from the Latin cerebrum , which means something like "what is on top of the head."

The brain acts as a centralizing organ for all the activities of the body. It is, therefore, the most complex organ.

A common misconception is to use the word brain as a synonym for brain, or to think that the brain is a part of the brain.

Rather, along with the cerebellum and brain stem, the cerebrum is one of the parts of the brain . What is certain is that the brain is the largest of these.

In the figurative sense , the mastermind of a plan is called the brain, that is, the person who creates, drives and coordinates the execution of a certain plan of operations (does not necessarily participate in it). For example: "Francisco Pérez was discovered to be the mastermind of the 'casino robbery' operation that the police thwarted last week."

A person who is very outstanding in cultural and scientific activities is also called a brain. For example: "Albert Einstein was a physics mastermind." "The neighbor's son is the brain of her classroom."

    Brain functions

The brain is responsible for several vital functions. The brain enables perception through the senses of sight, smell, taste, hearing, and touch. Through the brain we perceive the signals transmitted through the eyes, ears, palate, nose and skin.

In it, cognitive and emotional operations also take place , that is, learning and emotional stimuli. In the human brain, in particular, language is processed that enables communication.

Also, the brain coordinates the functioning of the other organs through nerve signals. The brain controls voluntary motor commands and sends sleep signals, hunger signals, thirst signals, satiety signals, etc. The communication of the brain with the other organs is, therefore, constant..

    Parts of the brain

    Brain

The brain has two hemispheres : one right and one left. The brain is made up of matter or gray matter and matter or white matter . The gray matter that lines the hemispheres is called the cerebral cortex .

Among the parts of the brain we can mention the following:

    • Frontal lobe: regulates voluntary motor activity, reasoning, communication, memory and personality. The frontal lobe is more developed in humans.
    • Temporal lobe: auditory sensations, interpretation of auditory sensations and understanding of language, memory, pattern recognition (faces, voices, words, data), behavior and personality.
    • Parietal lobe: processes sensory information of all kinds; participates in other activities together with neighboring lobes.
    • Occipital lobe: image processing, eye movements, imagination.
