Networking

What is networking?

Networking is a strategy to generate professional and business ties with people who share common interests.

The networking serves to generate a list of possible contacts that allows the creation of strategic alliances in the future that will benefit all parties involved, either through exchange of information, products or services.

In this sense, an essential rule prevails in networking: reciprocity. Anyone who wants to generate synergy with other colleagues or entrepreneurs is because they have something of value to offer back.

Networking is an Anglicism that translates as " network of contacts " and is currently widely used in the workplace and entrepreneurial.

Advantages of networking

The networking works on multiple levels: professional, entrepreneur, business, etc. However, the growth of SMEs and entrepreneurships in recent years has led to the generation of meeting spaces dedicated exclusively to generating contact networks in these areas.

In this sense, creating a network of professional or business contacts has several advantages:

  • Visibility : allows you to become known as a professional or show a project in a suitable space for it.
  • Alliances : as all the participants of the meeting have common interests, it is easier to find people or proposals aligned with a common vision.
  • Knowledge : networking allows you to better know the details of the industry or the commercial branch to which you want to belong.
  • Projection : in the case of professionals, networking can help them get a better job.
  • Exchange : contact networks allow the exchange of up-to-date information.

Types of networking

There are several ways to create a network of contacts:

Networking events

They are events created especially to meet people and projects of a particular industry.

For example, in the world of technology, encounters between developers are very common.

Professional events or activities

These are meeting spaces that allow you to meet other colleagues, either from the same company or from the same industry.

For example, the activities of local chambers of commerce.

Presentations, exhibitions, workshops

This type of activity brings together a group of people linked by a common theme, making it easier to find professional or business peers.
